The Baptists in Newcastle Emlyn may have worshipped in about four places in the town before forming a church in April 1775 when they started building a Chapel on this site. It was opened in 1777 and its first ministers were Timothy Thomas, who died in 1784, David Evans 1784 – 1821 and John Richards.

In 1788 David Jones from Pontypool was appointed as a minister, he died in 1792 and was followed in 1793 by Evan Evans. Graig was then without a minister for eight years till Daniel Nichols took over in 1808, he stayed a year before moving to Eglwyswrw.

The next minister was the Rev Samuel Breese from Aberystwyth, he died suddenly on his way home from a service in 1812. Rev J Morgan 1815 – 1818 was next before he moved to Narberth. In 1820 the Rev Timothy Thomas was ordained and the chapel was re-built in 1821. The 1851 Census lists John George as Minister.

The Rev Benjamin Thomas (Myfyr Emlyn) was ordained in 1860 and left for Penarth in 1873. The present chapel was built in 1875. Rev J Symlog Morgan followed Benjamin Thomas in 1900 and stayed till 1918. The Rev J Clement Davies was the next incumbent from November 1922 and stayed until his retirement in 1962. Various preachers occupied the pulpit for ten years before the Rev Irfon C Roberts took over in 1972 followed in 1985 by the Rev J Neville James. It is now without a minister.
